Creating PDF files

In Compsci 82 we ask that you turn synopses and other written work in as .pdf files, the Adobe portable document format standard. We can print these and view them without worrying about whether you're using .docx, .doc, or some other word processor. You do not turn in hard copy, all work is turned in electronically.

Windows Computers

To create a PDF file on a windows computer you can use this web-based, online site: drawloop online to upload a .doc or .docx or other format and then get a PDF you download and turn in.

Alternatively, you can download the CutePDF Writer freeware for Windows computers and use this on your machine. Be sure to look for the freeware version.

Apple Computers

On an Apple/Mac you create a PDF by choosing to print your document, e.g., from the File menu. In the print dialog choose the bottom-left PDF button and save as pdf. Here's a screen shot:

We suggest you use the
Firefox Browser. It's free, fast, and good.
