Creating PDF files
In Compsci 82 we ask that you turn synopses and other written work in
as .pdf files, the Adobe portable document format standard. We can print
these and view them without worrying about whether you're using .docx,
.doc,
or some other word processor. You do not turn in hard copy, all work is
turned in electronically.
Windows Computers
To create a PDF file on a windows computer you can use this web-based,
online site:
drawloop online
to upload a .doc or .docx or other format and then get a PDF you
download and turn in.
Alternatively, you can download the CutePDF Writer freeware for Windows
computers and use this on your machine. Be sure to look for the
freeware version.
Apple Computers
On an Apple/Mac you create a PDF by choosing to print your document,
e.g., from the File menu. In the print dialog choose the
bottom-left PDF button and save as pdf. Here's a screen shot:
Browsing the Web
We suggest you use the
Firefox Browser. It's free,
fast, and good.
