Here is another site for Emacs. It lists several places to download it and also mentions that some people have trouble downloading form the UW site (the previous site I listed).
If you want to install FSecure SSH and X windows (X-win 32 perhaps) see the www.oit.duke.edu site.
If you want to install Emacs on your PC, see
Two-dimensional and three-dimensional worlds will be created and interacted with using a variety of software tools. Topics include computer animation, 2D simulation of the growth of plants, 2D simulation of animal life cycles, and creating 3D worlds of objects in which users can control their appearance and behavior. Students will work in teams on several computer projects. There is no prerequisite and no programming experience necessary This course will be taught in a workshop format with computers in the classroom. There is some overlap with CPS 4, so students taking this course cannot receive credit for CPS 4.
Animations and Virtual Worlds will be created using packages such as Jawaa, Alice, StarLogo and Karel++.
This is a project course. Students will work on projects during class in pairs. Individual and group projects will be written. Grades will be based on projects, class participation, and presentations. There are no exams.
Since this course will be taught in a workshop format instead of lectures, students will be required to read and/or prepare material in advance for each class period.
There are no prerequisites for this course.
