S. Charelle Sanford
Houston TX (The Real Dirty South)
NICKNAME: Charelle
I prefer to be called by my middle name which is CHARELLE. Don't ask what my first name is because I am not telling!
HOBBIES:
Swimming-
I was on a swim team year round from the time I was 3 until I was 18
Diving-
In middle school I joined the dive team. I really liked it but my sophomore year in high school my coach made me chose between swimming and diving so naturally I went for what I knew
Gymnastics-
I think all people who are near that 5 foot mark were in gymnastics at some point in time
Music-
This is my one true love. I play the alto, tenor and barisaxophone. I was a member of DUMB, the smartest marching band in the ACC my freshman and sophomore year. I also took piano leasons for 13 years. I still love to play in my spare time.
YEAR: I am a senior graduating in December (Hallelujah!)
COURSES:
This semester, my course load includes Probability, Introduction to Math Logic, Multiculturialism (pol sci), Modern Dance, and of course, Software Design and Implementation.
PROGRAMMING EXPERIENCE
I made it through CPS 6, 100, 104, 110,120 and 130. I am in my final stretch. There were some trying times. XEMACS was trying to hold me down. But I made it through. There were also some trumphant times. You know. When your program actually compiles and works like it's supposed to. I was never planning on majoring in Computer Science, but after you start it is hard to stop. Before I came to Duke, I didn't have any programming experience. In fact, I didn't even like computers that much. I was one of those types of people who only used the computer to check my email. Well I guess I haven't changed that much. I still don't have instant messenger, but I do like to program. Duke's CPS Department had opened my eyes to the exciting world of Computer Science and I almost had fun.
