Game Rules: --------------------------------- Phase 1: Party selection Players take alternate selecting team members from a provided pool. Each character can only be picked once. Each character has the following attributes: HP - The amount of life the character has. When this goes down to 0, the character is dead and cannot be revived. While the character is alive, he can be healed, but he cannot exceed the HP he started with. MP - The amount of "magic power" the character has. Some attacks use MP, and will not work if the character does not have enough. Weaknesses and Strengths - Some characters are more susceptible to damage from certain attacks than other characters. See Battle Formula. Each character also has three attacks. These attacks have the following qualities. Cost (in time and MP) - After performing an attack, the character will take a few turns to recover. Also, the use of some attacks consumes MP Damage - Each attack has a base damage. See Battle Formula. Attack Type - Most attacks drain your enemies' HP. Some attacks will drain MP instead. Some attacks cure allies' HP or MP. Attack Class - Players can be strong or weak against attacks based on their Attack Class. (More information is given regarding character and attack stats in HowToRead.txt) --------------------------------- Phase 2: Battle. Players alternate attacking each other. Each turn, the player chooses an attacker, an attack, and a victim (or ally in the case of healing attacks) from the options available. An attack is available if: 1. The attacker is alive and ready to attack. 2. The attacker has enough MP for the attack. 3. The victim is alive to be attacked. (No attacking dead people. That's just mean.) The attack does damage according to the battle formula. Damage = BaseDamage * (StrengthModifier) (The StrengthModifier is 4 if the victim is weak against the attack, 1/2 if he's strong, and 1 if he's neither.) If the HP of the victim reaches 0, the victim dies. For healing attacks, the formula is the same. Recovery = BaseRecovery * (Strength Modifier) The HP or MP of the ally will go up only to their maximum, the value they started with. When no character is able to make an attack, or when the player chooses, the characters can wait around for the next turn without attacking. When all the characters on one side die, the other side wins.
