The Fun of CompSci 101 by Colette Torres

She starts off each day in a world full of gray
But smiles to herself as she passes Trinity Café
On the way to the highlight of her week
The thrill of Python she does seek
Linear and French she can’t stand at all 
But, approaching White Lecture Hall,
A feeling of excitement overtakes
At the thought of lectures by the prof with crafty cakes 
Who makes learning a world full of fun
The wonder that is CompSci 101!

It is in this class that she is meant to be,
For recursion and list comprehensions fill her with glee
Choosing Insertion sort because Bubble sort sometimes falls flat,
Even President Obama knows where it’s at
Solving problems and making snarky games,
Mutating strings – no, lists! – of copious names,
Playing with tuples, dictionaries, and sets,
CompSci lab trumps any lab with pipettes  

Striving for greens on weekly APTs,
This course is not always a breeze
Yet even so, she can’t get enough
(Though here’s to hoping the final won’t be too rough)
This class is just too much of a blast
She regrets that it all went by so fast 
And yet the fun has only begun 
Fear not – there’s still CompSci 201!
