"T'Was the Night before Finals" by Carmen Alban T’was the night before finals, and all through The South Gate, Not a person was sleeping, everyone was up late. The freshmen were typing on their laptops with care, In the hopes that Christmas break soon would be there. CompSci Students coded away in their beds, While visions of green APTs danced in their heads. A’s on assignments and finishing lab, I dreamt of all the free time soon to be had. When out in the hall there arose such a clatter, And I sprang from by bed to see what was the matter. Away from the screen I flew very quick, Tore open the door to see who was sick. A CompSci student lay sprawled out on the floor, Crying of failure, of which she was sure. When, what to our wondering eyes should there be, An APT submit screen covered in green. With all correct code, so beautiful and bright, I knew it a moment we would all be alright. We smiled at python and thought of the grade we would earn, As we studied and talk about the functions we learned. Now for loops!now while loops! Now sorting and printing! On lists! On strings! On functions and appending! To the end of the file to the top of the call! Now print away print away print away all! We turned off our computers and prepared for sleep, Remembering the knowledge of which we would keep. But I heard her exclaim as we walked out of sight, Happy Coding to all! And to all a goodnight!
