I swear I love CompSci

‘Twas a hot summer day in mid-July, 
Yet I was stationed in my room,
Registering for my new classes
That I would be taking at Duke soon.

Many people suggested CS101,
Saying that the course is an “absolute must.”
And I figured I’d give it a shot -
Just to see why there was so much fuss.

Fast-forward a month and a half
To my first lecture in LSRC,
Overwhelmed by Professor Rodger
As she discussed assignments, labs and APTs

CompSci has made me want to scream
And throw my laptop against a wall
But the split-second I get all-greens
None of the frustration matters at all.

All-greens is an ecstasy like no other –
It’s why people gravitate towards CS.
It can make you feel on top of the world,
Even if the rest of your life is a mess.

My peers and I exchange high-fives and laughs -
It’s so rewarding when our code is done.
After an all-green APT I swear I love CompSci…
At least until I start the next one!
