Poem: The Green Light Grace Gatsby might not have known. If he had, his mind wouldve been blown- The meaning of the light at which he stared, That green glow which across the water glared. He thought it meant a future, or love, or even a sign of the power above. But, no, Gatsby was mistaken so- The true meaning of the green light, he did not know. What he failed to learn was this: Yes, the light meant everlasting bliss, But, it came as the result not of chance, but as a precursor to the dance. The green light dance, he knew not- That waltz of joy which one aught Do, when she is faced with the lights of green, which come only from a mind, keen A heart, strong, and a patience, long. Though, many-a-time did she whine, Only when she got them all right did it shine. That green light, the beloved sign That her APT results finally did align. The joy felt by she, who knew the meaning of the light, far surpassed the anguish felt by Gatsby at the sight. If only he had known- joy, he too would have felt, not fright!
