And here are more below here

  1.
    two haikus:

    Too many errors
What am I going to do?
    Dear TA's, thank you

    Taking a break from
    Working on Percolation
    back to debugging

  2. A Java Haiku

Oh how I love Java !
    Coding and testing programs,
    to get a good grade.

  3. Trees
    By: Sanjay Satish

    Trees, Trees, Trees
So intriguing but what could they be?

    A system of organization
    A method of multiplication
All for the sake of a recurrence relation
I don't see the point of these trees.

Oh trees, oh trees, oh trees why so hard must you be?
    Recursion alone is enough
Now combine with lefts and rights its too much
I'm overwhelmed you see - its impossible to me
    To solve these tree APTs

    Trees, trees, trees
you will be the death of me
    Until I learn
and I swear I will learn
Oh how to conquer these wonderful trees
  4. Assignment P4 Poems

    Haiku
    Assignment P4
    E Coli_ DNA? What?!
    LinkNodes save the day!

    Rhyming Poetry
    Oh Assignment P4,
Unlike anything I have ever seen before,
Pages and pages of biology reading,
"Stop!" my brain is basically pleading,
    Ahhhhh, the TLDR, at last,
    It's almost if they'd known I'd ask,
    They start by using Strings,
    Those wasteful little things,
    They now say StringBuilders,
    And now I am bewildered,
    Finally they say ListNodes,
They were able to carry the load!

  5. A Modern-Day Tragedy...

    They say roses are red
    And violets are blue
But in computer science those colors won't do
    What I want is green
    To cover my screen
    An all green solution
    13 of 13
    My MacBook is silver
    And Vondy coffee is brown
But what I need is all green
As this APT Quiz timer ticks down

Trying to code is not easy at all
    This I now know
    Success follows the fall
It is not as simple as you may think
Though new technology appears in a blink
    Self-driving cars,
    A ticking timer
    Spaceships set for the stars,
    A ticking timer
    And a Roomba (bye-bye brooms!)
that can sweep while we watch lectures on Zoom

All these things now seem so amazing
Because little old me just learned camelCasing
And I knowwww if I practice, I'll be an expert one day
    But as for this day?
    The timer hit 0:00
    And sadly,
    I'm seeing all gray

  6. I came into Comp Sci 201 ready for the endeavor,
My 101 skills I hoped to lever.
From Python to Java, my confidence in tact,
Languages have much in common, just different syntax.

Learning about lists, nodes, and queues,
And using newfound knowledge to follow the clues,
To solve APTs and assignments with confidence,
It was fun and redeeming to see it all make sense.

And now the time has come where I must move on,
Someone, please, tell me where the time has gone.
It is hard to know what the future bodes,
But I know Comp Sci 201 has prepared me loads.

  7. Click, clack, click clack goes the keyboard.
The due date looms, even the grace period is ending.
I keep seeing gray, losing credit I cannot afford.
Distracted by Twitter, the NBA is trending.

I jolt back into focus, replacing for loops with while loops.
My runtime is long, Professor Rodger taught me better.
Helper methods keep growing, letters looking like alphabet soups.
I see all gray, missing a semi-colon in the header.

All of my pain, all of my worry.
Solved by a semi-colon, who would have thought.
I submit and reflect, all in a hurry.
In vain, my last minute effort was not.

  8. It began with an interest in computers,
grew to a love for electronics,
    and developed into enrolling…
CompSci 201 has made me want to keep the ball rolling.

While the syntax was not like java,
I slowly gained some skill and proficiency,
And now there is not limit that I see.

Hash code, hash maps, hash sets,
    Hash this and has that,
    Link this and unlink that!

As time went on the rigor certainly increased…
By my code's big-Oh runtime only decreased!

  9.
    A CS201 Haiku

    Linked lists, how exciting
    Algorithms and data
    Backbone of CS

  10. Let me tell you about APTs
Let me tell you about the struggle

Of a recursive curse in an unending verse
And a base case that is never reached

Of a recursive curse in an unending verse
And a base case that is never reached…

Of searching through code for syntax errors
    Missing semicolons and parentheses
    Misspellings and other mistakes
    The compiler fails yet again

    Of IndexOutOfBoundExceptions
    Of NullPointerExceptions

    Of pre-order, in-order, and post-order tree traversal
And incorrectly implementing each of the three

Of not understanding why something doesn't work
And not understanding why something else does

Of watching the clock tick ever close to midnight
And hoping that you can get your code to work in time

But the moment it finally works
    And every test is passed
    You get the all green
    Success at last

    Of course ...
    Three hours later
    You finally remember
The deadline to complete the reflection has passed as well

  11. Some Haikus about CS201:

    1.) Green Dance

    Waiting in suspense,
I watch the screen - wait - it works!
    The green dance begins.

    2.) Recursion

    Put the method there.
Yes, there, it will work. Promise.
    Trust in recursion.

    3.) Collections

    ArrayList, LinkedList,
    PriorityQueue, TreeSet.
    Collections for you.

    4.) WOTO

    Maybe he needs help.
"Hi, do you want to join me?"
    WOrking TOgether.

    5.) This one is required

    Four APTs done.
    Finished. Wait. I didn't do
    The required one.

    6.) No (Big) Oh

    Oh, it is not N.
    Oh, it is O(NlogN).
    Sigh. When will I learn?

  12. ALL GREEN by Gautam Sirdeshmukh

    Clicking the APT link
    What? 12 due by tonight?
These are the easiest, I think
Getting this done will be alright

    First program almost done
I'm better at this than I thought!
This is getting sort of fun
    All grays? I guess not...

    Wait, a case is green
Only one out of a hundred though
On the debugger I must lean
Or this is going to be really slow

    Yet another green test
    I'm feeling myself a little
Even though Python is the best
    Java plays second fiddle

    Finally, the suffering is done
Only Irish Spring green to see
Comp Sci 201 has been fun
    And now I'm onto 230

  13. All Green For Me:

All Green, All Green for me,
It's what I wish for every day
Working hard, all day and night
I'm trying to get that passing grade

All Green, All Green for me,
It's what I wish for every day
Working hard, all day and night
I'm trying to get that passing grade

Started from January 13 and seeing it's out
Finishing that one and turning it in
Started getting overloaded after a few weeks
But never gave up, I kept the CompSci mind churning

That feeling I get when I get All Green,
That's a feeling I get when I feel like I've achieved something great
    That's a feeling I get when I conquer a fear
Looks like on my last APT I got an eight out of eight

All Green, All Green for me,
It's what I wish for every day
Working hard, all day and night
I'm trying to get that passing grade

All Green, All Green for me,
It's what I wish for every day
Working hard, all day and night
I'm trying to get that passing grade

Now I'm getting to the end of this poem
I'll focus on how CompSci 201 has become my home
This class may be tough, heavy, and hard to finish
But it's a class that goes endlessly like a metronome

I love CompSci 201, the atmosphere is amazing
I've learned so much, even if it's rough man
Trees still get me, but I'm improving every day
I'm so happy I finished writing Huffman

You may get zero out of ten on your first try
And never see a green after an hour's worth
But if you stay at the APT long enough
The green's will start flowing in, your energy will be rebirthed

In my finale I just want to leave to thee
Good luck in this amazing class, take it with many friends
You'll learn so much, from linked lists to Big-Oh to Nbody
Most importantly, know your java code can always ascend

  14. Riptide CompSci Mashup

I was scared of Comp Sci and the code
I was scared of APTs and starting the equations
Oh, all my tries are failing bad
You're the TA's nightmare in their dreams
    Oh
Oh and I really come stuck
Lately, running down to bio sci
    Going to my digital hand
I wanna be your next hand raised
I love you when you're helping me with comp sci and

I got a bug in my code 'cause
    I've read the problem wrong
Is this assignment that I think you'll like
This code decides to use all the things that we ever learned
These HuffNodes screwing up my code
And I've been trying for too long I know
    Oh
Oh and when will I finish

Lately, running down to bio sci
    Going to my digital hand
I wanna be your next hand raised
I love you when you're helping me with comp sci and
I got a bug in my code 'cause
    I've did the syntax wrong

I just wanna, I just wanna know
If you're gonna, if you're gonna work
I just gotta, I just gotta know
I can't have it, I can't have it any other way

    Cup song version

I got a zoom link just now
    Two APTs due today
And I sure would like some sweet help
But it's due in 10 minutes, wha-do-ya say?
    When I'm done
    When I'm done
I'm not gonna miss you when I'm done
You're gonna miss me with red lines
You're gonna miss me fixing lines, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm done

  15. CS201 Haikus – Carson Dudley

    Assignments:

    Assignments are lame
    I always forget to do
    The Analysis

    Midterm 1:

    Midterm 1 was good
Good thing it's all of my grade
    Or else I would fail

    Discussion:

    I liked Discussion
When it was in person, but
    At home not so much

    APTS:

    I like APTs
They make me feel very smart
    Because they're easy

    APT Quiz:

    APT quiz good
    Sorry for caveman grammar
    Quarantine melt brain

    WOTOs:

    Did not like WOTOs
At home forgot to do them
    So lost big time points

  16. Roses are red, violets are blue,
When the screen shows all green, we all yell woo!
    Sitting in lectures, doing WOTOs,
Feels like it happened so long ago.

We returned ints, strings, and lists every day,
And somehow it is already May.
CS 201 was the most fun around,
Even though COVID tried to slow us down.

Comp Sci 230, we're ready for you,
Python and Java were just the first two.
No matter what awaits us when we return in September,
The trees and linked lists we will always remember.

Comp Sci 201 it has been quite a ride,
We leave you knowing we have IntelliJ on our side!

  17. Computer Science really frustrates me,
Especially when I cannot get all green on an APT.
After hours of tweaking, weeping, and freaking,
    It still does not work.
    But I persevere, nonetheless.
I import, I edit, I try different things.
I hit the submit button, see all green,
It is happiness that it brings.
I weep, I cry, I scream loud as can be,
Because only the first of my five APTs is complete.

  18. Dear Java

    You are like the sunrise
One that is beautifully laid out
One that was once a blank black paper

Your beauty sneaks in minute by minute
    Black background turning colorful
Blue, orange, and a hint of purple

    When you are finally here
    And your painting is complete
You are the most beautiful thing
One that is painted complete without the smallest error

    Oh Java,
Remember the days we spent all night
    Together to complete the code
Now that I can finally see your sunrise
I shall enjoy my cup of coffee
