Compsci 82, Fall 2009, Syllabus

All materials we use in class are accessible via this page. Since the powerpoint slides used often have links to websites and videos embedded in them, these links are made available separately from the powerpoint. To browse the .ppt/powerpoint source, visit the notes directory

Each week there are readings to be completed by the end of the week. For these weeks with a Group 1/2/3 designation, students in the identified group turn in a synopsis for the week's readings. The synopsis is due by end-of-day on Thursday, see the about tab for details on late submissions.

There is also a blackboard quiz for the week's readings. It should be completed by everyone, not just the Group turning in a synopsis. The quiz consists of multiple choice, true/false, questions and is meant to correspond to a quick reading of the works, not an in-depth reading (that's for the synopsis). The Blackboard quiz should be completed before class starts on Monday of the next week after the readings are assigned. For example, the readings for the first week, for which no one turns in a synopsis, have a quiz that must be completed by the beginning of class on Aug 31.
